This online marketplace has updated its sizing categories for women's and children's garments failing to inform all users about the change. Social Media Response Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification than originally posted because of the remapping. Vinted explained the new system was more in line with similar services. They have suggested members to review their products and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, which has left users frustrated. Sizing System Updates Previously, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10. The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10. For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18. Shopper Stories Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder". "Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does. A different member, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22. "Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she said. Necessary Adjustments Another shopper, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products". "This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she stated. Service Background The app has more than 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members. It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
