The Iconic Puzzle Game Didn't Triumph at This Gaming Ceremony — Another Award Type Might Solve This

Whenever a significant honors show nears, one notices an outcry for the addition of new categories to acknowledge underappreciated efforts and fill the hearts of fans with niche passions.

A fellow writer has already made supporting a scary games classification. That would rule. Equally deserving are board games, representing someone's personal cause. However, I must insist when I prioritize just as with other dedicated enthusiasts, there's a strong justification backing this proposal stands as crucial above others. The demand is this: We need a category for puzzle games.

Categorizing Game Types

Organizing artistic expressions is not a science; opinions vary greatly, and it will always start arguments resulting in unclear classifications. This explains why cinema institutions steer clear of genre categories. But it is an unavoidable compromise for the industry of video games, which are so diverse it's challenging to consider them one unified medium.

To recognize the complete range of interactive entertainment excellence to receive acknowledgment, and to ensure all game types to have a chance for representation, classification by type becomes crucial.

Present Award Structure

Leading game ceremonies currently feature award types recognizing Action-oriented games, Action/Adventure, Role-Playing, Combat games, Sim/Strategy, plus athletic and racing experiences. Together, these classifications successfully include many game types, allowing placement for most games within them.

Different situation exists for brain-teasing titles. No appropriate category exists to accommodate them. Consider three of outstanding current releases, each quite distinct: structural challenges from a specific release, fast-paced pattern recognition in a different title, and the sweetly sociological logic puzzles in another game. Where could they possibly go among existing types? Unfortunately, nowhere.

Acknowledgment Issues

Numerous examples exist excellent brain-teasers launched regularly without proper recognition during gaming ceremonies, except when they manage to fit award groups including Handheld titles, Virtual reality experiences, or the extremely competitive independent game categories.

  • A renowned logic title wasn’t nominated for anything that year
  • Another creative title received no nominations during that ceremony
  • Popular arranging title got ignored that year
  • Limited numbers of puzzle games barely qualified for niche award types

Value of Brain-Teasers

These are often compact experiences, but the art in brain-teasers carries substantial weight. Iconic mobile puzzle games count as most engaged experiences globally continuing this trend for many years.

The famous puzzle experience rivals popular creative games for the title of best-selling game of all time; it also contends for best game of all time. Logic titles represent cornerstones to the art of video games, and they are in conversation with almost every other genre.

The Solution and Justification

Logic titles wouldn't face that issue. It would be easy to populate multiple candidates engaging, different, qualified experiences each ceremony simply — or rather, with difficulty, since numerous excellent numerous deserving experiences.

Restating the point, these are games that otherwise have no home in important events. Puzzle game makers function at the challenging frontier of video game design, producing among essential manifestations within interactive entertainment. Just like cinema stunt performers, they warrant appreciation. Let’s not keep them waiting generations.
